I have been turning flattened, discarded cans into art since about 1970. I find the crushed forms fascinating. I stare at them, like some people stare at clouds, and see images latent within them. Just as Michelangelo saw an image in the raw stone, I see the image in the crushed metal. After painting the can, I place it in a setting. I have had many exhibits with these cans and have been written up in newspapers and magazines for these works.
